Every Labrador lover's love for the breed starts somewhere. Ours started with Hunny. She came into our lives two weeks before our wedding and for the next ten years, with her antics, filled our home with joy. Once we had our "big dog", we decided to have a "little dog" too, so along came Katye. "Little" did we know that we'd be in for the ride of our lives. She was the boss -- plain and simple. She ruled over the home -- dogs, cats and humans! However, once you own a Lab you must have more -- one is never enough! Sugar was our second Labrador. For eleven years, she radiated her sweet, quiet love into our home. And what's a home without a cat? We found Ashley as a tiny kitten and decided to maker her part of our home as well. What a great decision that was! There's nothing like sleeping surrounded by snoring dogs and a purring kitten. We brought Coco to keep Ashley company because we figured one cat needed another. However, we soon found out that Coco preferred the company of her food bowl than that of Ahsley's! Sprinkles came unexpectedly. I had started working on my Master's degree and on the first day on campus I spotted a scared and hungry looking dog in the parking lot. Six weeks later, trying to find her every night after school, I was finally able to convince her to come home with me. It wasn't easy at first. She and Katye and a rough beginning, but all worked out in the end.
Hunny, Sugar, Ashley, Katye, Coco and Sprinkles, you were not with us long enough. We love you and miss you every day, and we thank you for teaching us some of life's great lessons. Hunny, thank you for teaching us love. Sugar, thank you for teaching us strength, Ashley, thank you for teaching us courage, Katye, thank you for teaching us patience. Coco, thank you for teaching us acceptance. Sprinkles, thank you for teaching us gratitude. The words of the song "Because You Loved Me" come to mind when we think of you.
Hunny we wish you all the bananas and steak you can steal. Sugar, we wish you millions of tennis balls and a never-ending swimming pool. Ashley, we wish you Christmas trees filled with ornaments and the wonder of the great outdoors. Katye, we wish you grapes, brand new loaves of bread to break through, and many big dogs to boss around and steal from. Coco, we wish you lots and lots of food! Sprinkles, we wish you lots of "Doodle Birds" to chase and bark at, but please, don't fight with Katye!

Although we advocate regular veterinary care and proper vaccinations for animals, we would be remiss if we didn't caution against Vaccine-Associated Feline Fibrosarcoma. This is a dangerous and deadly form of cancer associated with feline vaccines. We lost Ashley to this disease when she was only seven years old. We urge you to speak to your veterinarian about a safe vaccination protoccol for your cats.

Katye
June 18th, 1989-December 22nd, 2004

Katye was our littlest dog. She was a 9lb. Bischon Frise who had an attitude bigger than life.
We were convinced that when she looked at herself in the mirror she saw a big dog on the other side.
For 15 1/2 years, she ruled the house and no one dared to fight back!

Coco
December 25th, 1993-September 8th, 2006

We adopted Coco as an 8-week old kitten from Adopt-a-Pet.
It was rough at the beginning, but eventually Coco and Ash agreed to coexist and share -- as long as it didn't mean sharing food!
As you can see Coco was the world's fattest Siamese!
We lost her unexpectedly to cancer and we feel the loss of her presence everyday.
Her favorite spots feel empty without her.
Unfortunately, Coco's death and her remains were treated unethically and disrespectfully by
Miami Veterinary Specialists.
We will always honor her memory by keeping the public informed about their callous and inhumane practices.

Please take some time to read Coco's Story.

Spike

Spike was Hunny's son and Sugar's brother. He lived with a loving and caring family to a ripe old age.
We are forever grateful to them for bringing Spike into their home.

Sprinkles

Thanksgiving 1993-August 12th, 2007

Sprinkles, or the "Doodle Dog" as she was better known, was our mixed breed wonder. We rescued her from underneath a portable classroom in a school parking lot, and she was part of our family for almost fourteen years. We didn't know exactly when her birthday was, but we chose Thanksgiving Day for her because we've never known a more grateful or more faithful dog than Sprinkles and we were so grateful to have her.

Lola
December 19th, 2004-August 12th, 2007

Lola was the much beloved girl of very dear friends, Delio & Arlene Diaz. She passed away unexpectedly the same day our Sprinkles did. We loved Lola as our own. She was pure joy and sunshine. She was funny and she was beautiful. She was our traveling companion to many shows and she dared defy Maddie for her food. I guess that's why Maddie respected her and loved her so. We will always remember her bright eyes and warm kisses. Lola was with us for such a short time, but her memory will live in our hearts forever.
Lola, we love you and we miss you.

Heaven Has Another Angel
To Bailey, written 5/26/10
Yesterday an Angel left our home and rose to heaven.
Bailey - Ridge View Blissful Bailmont CGC is now in a better place.
Bailey, our “Brown Dog”, our “Monkey Dog” was not a show dog. In fact, she hated to show. However, she had one phenomenal gift - being the “House Mother”. How she loved being a mother! Her first litter of 12, gave us our first homebred Champion, Jezebel (CH Rosewater Bad Girl). Jezebel has gone on to produce our second generation of beautiful Labradors. Bailey deserves ALL the credit to my accomplishments as a breeder.
Because of her I have a kennel name, because of her I had my first Champion, because of her Maddie came to us. Because of her we are now so empty, yet so full.
Bailey came to me at a crucial point in my life. I was just getting over my first bout with cancer and the loss of my first Lab, Hunny. That sweet, brown puppy made me smile again.
Bailey did not just mother her puppies. She mothered every puppy, every kitten, hamster, rabbit, bird and fish!
She loved to sneak swims in the pool even when we were dressed and ready to go out.
Why did God call her to his side now? I don't know. Maybe “Heaven Must Have Been Missing an Angel” and she's there with HIM right now. Aside from our broken hearts, she leaves behind an incredible legacy and a loving family -- her daughter Jezebel, her grandchildren Lulu & Ricky, her new grandchildren now less than 5 weeks old, Maddie who was the best gift we ever gave her, and Jack who made her tail wag harder than it had for a week when he came home Saturday. She also leaves Sam & Emma, her adopted felines. Sam, especially will miss his pillow.
She also leaves behind her other kids and grandkids who although don't share our daily lives, are loved and cared for by their wonderful families.
Thank you Bailey for all the love, the laughter and the tears. Our lives are so much richer because of YOU!

BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME
by Celine Dion

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
